Mulberry = Happiness

If you weren't floating with us on the Mulberry River last weekend, well, you missed out. As evidenced by the picture to the left, our motley crew was as fierce as it was PRB-buzzed. Armed with 3 canoes, 1 kayak, food, beer, and a frisbee, we coasted all too leisurely down the Mulberry River from Turner Bend to Campbell Cemetary. And here are some pictures to prove it.
From left: DJ Rickdiculous, Special K, Hay Hay, Court, Nick, Claire, Nic, Moo, and (insert name I forgot here...just met him that day. I suck with names, sorry.)
"This thing hurts my back." This is how Nic preferred hitting the whitewater, although it seems as if this was post-koozie-loss. Ladies, don't let the cuteness fool you...Nic was a big cry baby about it being assigned to afternoon Kayak duty.
Did you know that a regulation size ultimate frisbee is all the entertainment anyone could ever need? Though you wouldn't think frisbees and floating plastic/metal boats would mix well, think again. This is Hayden thinking that he's going to catch the disc that Nic delivered so poorly (not the angle of the disc...curving away from the intended reciever). Ladies, don't let the cuteness (and glimmering buttocks) fool you...I didn't see him catch a disc all day, so chances are good that the result of this photograph ended rather pitifully.
Ah, the allstars. When Nick and Melissa invited us all to go canoeing, they obviously had no idea that they were inviting Mr. and Ms. Watersport USA 2006 along. Rick spent most of the day demonstrating his multifarious expertise in canoe signaling, which, unbeknownst to his companions, was instrumental in saving not one but all of their lives that fateful day. Fellow guide/expert Kayla pretty much just showed everyone else how it's done. Ladies and gents, don't let the big hair and the lifejacket fool you...these two knew what they were doing. Posted by Picasa

Farming isn't cute...

..but puppies sure are.

This is Three - a 1 1/2 year-ol Great Pyrenees - and 2 of her first litter of pups. She had 4, but Katie (owner and proprietor) sold the girl and left the 3 boys to terrorize the farm.

Fat Johnny...he's the only one that's been given a nickname, simply because he stands out as the undeniable momma's boy. While the other two are usually off exploring and getting into ticks and fleas, Fat Johnny can always be found no more than 15 feet from Three, looking pitiful and hungry.
Ferocious beast.
Fat Johnny isn't as adept as his brothers either. Where they can squeeze through fences, he prefers a good book, a cup of coffee, and a ham sandwich. Posted by Picasa
